USB Raptor turns your USB stick or drive into a device that automatically locks and unlocks your PC. First up, you have to generate and store a k3y file on the USB drive; then you have to enable USB Raptor. Once you do that, the moment you unplug your USB drive, USB Raptor will lock your PC. And when you plug in your USB drive, USB Raptor will unlock your PC. Alternatively, you can unlock your PC by entering a password or by sending a network unlock message.

USB Raptor does not have to be installed. To get started with this tool you need only run the USB Raptor executable. It is worth noting that USB Raptor comes bundled with a FAQ Word document (presents useful info on how to use USB Raptor) and a screensaver (the system is locked down every time the screensaver launches).

Two configuration modes are available for USB Raptor’s interface:
Simple configuration: there’s a single tab on the interface; from it you can pick a password to unlock your PC, select one of your USB drives and create a k3y file, enable USB Raptor.
Advanced configuration; several tabs are presented on the interface; use them to access several settings that govern how USB Raptor works.

Using USB Raptor is a fairly simple 3-step process:
Step 1 – pick one of your USB drives and create a k3y file.
Step 2 – enable USB Raptor.
Step 3 – unplug your USB drive and USB Raptor will automatically lock down your PC.

There are three ways of unlocking your PC. The easiest one is to simply plug in your USB drive. If you misplace your USB drive or if you don’t have your USB drive on you, you can unlock your PC by entering a password. And the third means of unlocking your PC is by sending a network unlock message.

USB Raptor is free software. If you show your support and make a donation, you will gain access to the “Master file creation” function. This allows you to create a master k3y that can override any type of lock.

Thanks to USB Raptor you can easily lock and unlock your PC. Unplug your USB drive, and the PC is automatically locked. Plug in your USB drive and it is unlocked.

Pros

USB Raptor does not have to be installed; run an executable and USB Raptor will launch. USB Raptor comes bundled with a screensaver; the system is locked down every time the screensaver launches. Two configuration modes are available for USB Raptor’s interface: simple and advanced configuration. Using USB Raptor is quite simple. USB Raptor is free software (donations are welcome; by making a donation you get to create a master k3y).

Cons

None that I could think of.
